Our client is a well-established, steadily growing strategy consulting firm with a very specific sector focus. The firm was experiencing a strong period of commercial growth at the start of 2019 and as such, extra boosts on the ground were required.
Given their specific area of focus, they had previously tended to take on experienced candidates (often with a subject relevant PhD), and offered them a first opportunity in the world of strategy consulting, exposing them to a huge range of projects across growth finance, strategy, M&A etc.
Key Challenges
Our client needed niche, subject-matter specialists that were happy to be based outside of London, meaning that relevant profiles within our existing network were likely to be hard to come by.
What Freshminds did
As part of the retained project, Freshminds took on a three-pronged headhunting approach in order to identify the widest cross-section of relevant candidates:
Degree-led approach – targeting the handful of relevant degree courses around the UK
Experience-led approach – Freshminds compiled a list of all industry-relevant businesses, mapping out all candidates with a relevant degree and 2-4 years’ experience
Location-led approach – Freshminds mapped out relevant individuals working within 25 miles of the firm.
Results
Freshminds presented a total of 8 targeted profiles to our client, resulting in 2 accepted offers in May.
The client has since hired a 3rd of the initially selected candidates, and we are looking to kick off a new hiring project as the firm goes from strength-to-strength.
